Support for Fiji: From One Garden Island to Another

Support for Fiji: From One Garden Island to Another

Cyclone Winston – the strongest cyclone to ever hit the southern hemisphere – struck Fiji as a Category 5 on February 20, 2016.  Cyclone Winston inflicted extensive damage on many islands and killed 44 people.  Nearly 25,000 homes were damaged or destroyed and approximately 350,000 people—roughly 40 percent of Fiji’s population—were significantly impacted by the storm. Tara and the team at Kauai Seariders are donating the Sea Rider profits this week –  March 14-21, 2016 to the people of Fiji affected by cyclone Winston.   Our hope is to be able to raise enough funds, through our efforts and those of our community, to help the people of Fiji eat, drink clean water and obtain temporary shelter as soon as possible.  The photo shows what was once the shelter of 23 Fijians on the island of Tavenui. “Having gone through 2 hurricanes on the island of Kaua’i in my lifetime, I understand the struggle and aftermath of a natural disaster. But,we were amazingly blessed that we had FEMA, Red Cross, Salvation Army and lots of help. These folks aren’t on the radar, there is no economic or political gain and there has virtually been no media coverage of this disaster. ” – Captain Tara Leota, Owner, Kauai Seariders Download the Flyer here… Donate Directly...

New Zodiac for Sea Riders

New Zodiac for Sea Riders

Kauai Sea Riders has recently purchased a new Zodiac!  “Papio” is a 20′ rigid hull Zodiac (formerly a Coast Guard Search Air Rescue Boat) that will be used to run our South Shore snorkel adventures during the summer months while our main vessel, Hookahi (24′ zodiac) is used for Na Pali Coast Tours.  “Papio” is certified for 6 passengers plus captain and crew.  The new boat has shade and pole holders for fishing on private charters which are perfect for families and small groups who want the boat all to themselves. Kauai Sea Riders had an official boat blessing, Nalani Taylor officiating.  It was an awesome event with chanting, a traditional Hawaiian Salt and Ti leaf blessing of the boat, a prayer by Captain Tara and then a whole lot of celebrating!  Kauai Sea Riders is a local small business with an Ohana (family) of support.  ...
Working WITH Nature: North VS South

Working WITH Nature: North VS South

So often we get calls or inquiries about the Na Pali Coast Charters.. in Winter. Please realize that we are a small charter business -intent on quality and integrity of our ocean adventures. It is very difficult  to nail down a day in the winter months, in advance, where the Na Pali is going to be calm enough for the Sea Caves and Snorkeling. So to simplify in planning your Sea Rider Adventure: Summer Na Pali is Epic; Winter Southshore is Steller!! So just call us to see what’s going on with the weather, we get a forecst 7 days in advance. It’s difficult to 2nd guess nature, but here in Hawai’i we are so isolated in the central Pacific, that winter swells from both the North and South Pacific affect the islands in the form of big surf. Come to think of it, the sport of Surfing was first invented by ancient Hawaiians. At this writing, the Northshore surf is HUGE!“Best of Kaua’i” Publication states why our charters have become so popular:” On Kaua’i Sea Rider Adventures, it’s all about the Snorkeling, spending More time in the water than on the boat and on the Whalewatch charter, spending More time with the Humpback...
